Alabama’s Flood to become UT OC

-

Texas is set to hire Alabama assistant Kyle Flood as its new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach under new head coach Steve Sarkisian, ESPN reported.

Flood has spent the past two seasons at Alabama. He worked alongside Sarkisian with the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 and 2018 — before joining Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.

Flood, 49, last held a coordinator role at Rutgers in 2009 and 2010. He later became Rutgers’ head coach, going 27-24 in four seasons.

Sarkisian, Alabama’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons and the 2020 Broyles Award winner, is expected to remain Texas’ offensive playcaller. In other news:

• Texas running back Keaontay Ingram has entered the transfer portal.

With the emergence of Bijan Robinson and a new coaching staff Ingram’s playing time for UT in 2021 was uncertain.
