No smoke alarm found in deadly mobile home fire
A man died early Tuesday morning following a fire at a north Montgomery County mobile home.
North Montgomery County firefighters arrived just after midnight at a double-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames in the 17100 block of South Cochran, immediately outside the Willis city limits. A neighbor who dialed 911 had told firefighters he thought a resident was inside, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.
Firefighters entered through a rear window, finding a 58-year-old man in the back hallway and pulled him out. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack ordered an autopsy. No smoke detector was in use at the home, authorities said.
