Autopsy: Instagram star was strangled

- By Nicole Hensley STAFF WRITER

The death of Houston social media maven Alexis Robinault, whose mysterious final days made global headlines, has been ruled a homicide — nearly two months after a city worker found her nude body concealed in roadside bushes.

In a statement, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said Robinault — who also went by her married name Sharkey — died by strangulation. Police officials said the investigation into her death continues and no arrests have been made.

The conclusion of the autopsy followed weeks of speculation that foul play was a factor in her death — though no wounds were visible on her body.

A city employee found her body Nov. 28 on Red Haw Lane, near the Interstate 10 frontage road and about 3 miles from the apartment she shared with her husband, Tom Sharkey. She was last seen alive the night prior.

A missing person’s report was lodged with HPD hours after her

body was found.

The husband, nor Robinault’s parents, could not be reached Tuesday for comment.

Amid the investigation, the medical’s examiner’s office switched Robinault’s next-of-kin from that of her husband to her parents. No explanation was provided.

The couple moved to Houston last January, and Robinault garnered a sizable Instagram following by showing off beauty products. Her fan base posthumously grew to at least 71,000 followers, with her final post Nov. 22 paying tribute to a recent trip to the town of Tulum on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.

In some posts, she identified herself as a “mentor” for the multilevel marketing company Monat, which sells hair and skincare products.
