Female on crew for Super Bowl

Sarah Thomas will cap her sixth NFL season by becoming the first female to officiate the Super Bowl in NFL history.

Thomas, a down judge, is part of the officiating crew announced by the NFL for the Feb. 7 game in Tampa, Fla.

The Washington Football Team is working to get a deal done with Marty Hurney to be its general manager, a person familiar with the situation said. Hurney, 65, is the former general manager in Carolina, and filling a role in Washington means a reunion with former Panthers coach Ron Rivera.
