Suspect jailed in stabbings of four relatives

A Porter man who allegedly stabbed four family members on Tuesday was captured overnight and taken into custody, officials said.

Nathan Carlin, 36, remains in the Montgomery County jail on felony charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault, according to the sheriff ’s office.

Carlin is accused of stabbing four female relatives, ages 61, 38, 23 and 9, during a verbal argument at their residence on the 23600 block of East Heritage Oaks Drive, according to the sheriff's office. The victims were taken to multiple hospitals where they were reported to be in stable but serious condition.

The stabbing suspect fled the home on foot, sparking a manhunt for the “armed and dangerous” assailant, officials said.

When Carlin called 911 around 9:30 p.m. to report that he was lost in the woods, dispatcher­s used the phone call to triangulat­e his location.

A SWAT team was activated and took Carlin into custody without incident.
