The Buckingham welcomes 2021 with open arms

-

While New Year’s was somewhat muted at The Buckingham senior living community this year, residents took the opportunity to safely welcome perhaps the most anticipated turn of the calendar in recent memory.

In three socially distanced seatings, residents donned in fine eveningwear and enjoyed a traditional New Year’s Eve bash complete with a live jazz band, a three-course menu, and a champagne toast.

“Normally we open this end-of-year event to residents’ guests and loved ones, but this year has been anything but normal,” said Shannon Schmidt, The Buckingham’s director of life enrichment. “This was a fun, safe evening for residents to enjoy amazing food, fine company, and welcome 2021 with open arms.”

This month, the community is also displaying two goal trees in the lobbies of The Tower and the traditional building. Throughout January, residents will have an opportunity to hang personal goals for 2021 on the trees, anything from fitness and wellness targets to spiritual aspirations.

“This idea was really led by some of our resident champions, and we’re so excited to see how we can continue to support residents reach new heights this year,” said Schmidt.
