Kubiak calls it a career after 36-year run
Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak has retired after a 36-year career as a player, coach and adviser in the NFL.
Kubiak, 59, participated in seven Super Bowls as a player or coach, winning four. His most recent ring came after the 2015 season as the head coach for Denver, the team he played nine years for as a backup quarterback. He also had an eight-year run as head coach in Houston.
Texans defensive end J.J. Watt tweeted his admiration and congratulations, calling Kubiak the quintessential players’ coach “who knew how to grind when it was time to grind and when to have a beer with you when it was time for a beer.”
Kubiak spent 24 seasons with the Broncos.
Eagles name Sirianni coach
The Eagles are hiring Nick Sirianni as their new head coach, The Philadelphia Inquirer confirmed, through a source.
Sirianni, 39, has been the Colts’ offensive coordinator the past three seasons, under head coach Frank Reich, who formerly was the Eagles’ offensive coordinator.
Sirianni worked for the Chiefs and Chargers before being hired by Reich.
Jets bringing on Ulbrich, LaFleur
New Jets coach Robert Saleh has hired Jeff Ulbrich, a former NFL linebacker who was on Atlanta’s staff last season, to run the Jets’ defense.
Saleh also announced that Mike LaFleur, who was the 49ers’ passing game coordinator the past three seasons, will be the Jets’ offensive coordinator.

Washington is hiring Martin Mayhew as general manager, people with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the Washington Post.
Mayhew, 55, previously a vice president of player personnel for the San Francisco 49ers, returns to a franchise he helped lead to a Super Bowl XXVI victory as a player. …
Dallas named Joe Whitt Jr. secondary and passing game coordinator and Aden Durde defensive line coach while promoting Harold Nash Jr. to strength and conditioning coordinator. …
Raheem Morris agreed to terms to become the Rams defensive coordinator. He replaces Brandon Staley, who left to become coach of the Chargers. Morris, 44, has coached in the NFL since 2002, when he joined Tampa Bay as a defensive quality control coach. He was the Buccaneers’ head coach from 2009 to 2011, and served as receivers coach for the Falcons in 2016 to 2018.…
The Jaguars officially named Trent Baalke general manager. Baalke served as Jacksonville’s director of pro personnel in 2020. He spent a dozen years with the 49ers, half as GM. …
The Steelers signed quarterback Dwayne Haskins to a futures contract.
