Body found near new home construction
A couple looking at a new home under construction early Saturday evening in the Katy area found a dead body in a drainage ditch just outside the backyard, authorities said.
Deputies responded around 5:15 p.m. to the 18600 block of Parma Creek Trail after the couple contacted authorities, said Sgt. Jason Brown of the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The individual, described as an older man, had suffered some form of trauma but the circumstance’s of his death remained unclear.
Brown said deputies planned to wait for the completion of an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The individual, who had not yet been identified, had been in the ditch for several days, he said, but it was not clear how many.
“As of right now, we’re not really sure exactly what happened to the individual,” Brown said.
