Swarms of bees released after truck rolls over
An 18-wheeler carrying thousands of bees rolled over just northwest of downtown San Antonio, releasing swarms of bees and shutting down traffic Sunday morning.
The truck rolled over just before 11 a.m. at the interchange connecting Interstate 10 and Interstate 35 southbound above West Elmira.
Authorities said that segment of I-35 would be shut down for several hours and asked residents to avoid the area.
“Currently, crews are dealing with several swarms of bees around the accident,” said Joe Arrington, a San Antonio Fire Department spokesman. “A professional bee crew is en route to attempt to remedy the issue.”
