Former local star signs with Astros Sandoval, Braves reach agreement

-

The Astros are in agreement with Houston native and former Klein Collins standout C.J. Hinojosa on a minor league contract, a person with knowledge of the deal said on Monday night.

The Astros selected Hinojosa in the 26th round of the 2012 draft, but he opted to attend the University of Texas.

Hinojosa has a career .723 OPS in the minors, never having appeared above Class AA, while starting games at second base, shortstop and third base.

Third baseman Pablo Sandoval has signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.

Sandoval would receive a $1 million, one-year contract if he is added to the team’s 40man roster under a deal the Braves confirmed Monday.
