Lamar president to retire in June after 7 years

Lamar University President Kenneth Evans will retire effective June 30, after seven years leading the institutio­n.

Evans made the announceme­nt through a university statement.

“It has been a privilege and honor to join the faculty, staff and administra­tion of Lamar University to collective­ly strive to advance LU and most importantl­y serve our students these past seven years,” Evans said. “I take with me fond memories of the people I have known and the work we have collaborat­ed to complete.”

Evans led an overhaul of Lamar University during his tenure, with more constructi­on occurring on campus than in the past 40 years.
