Resident kills intruder after confrontation

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff ’s Office are investigating a Monday morning fatal shooting of a man at a Magnolia subdivision.

A man was damaging a vehicle on property in the 26500 block of S. Carrol Lane and confronted a resident with what appeared to be a weapon in his hands, said sheriff ’s spokesman Lt. Scott Spencer in a Monday afternoon Facebook livestream.

The resident fired a single shot from a smallcaliber rifle, striking the man in the upper torso, Spencer said. The man was pronounced dead by EMS, according to a sheriff ’s press release.

The resident then called 911 as sheriff ’s deputies were dispatched around 7:40 a.m. The investigation is continuing, according to Spencer.

The case will be presented to a county grand jury, according to the press release.
