UIL state tourneys adjust to finals only
The University Interscholastic League’s state basketball tournaments will only include championship games this year.
The tournament usually includes semifinal games, but the UIL announced Tuesday that sites for state semifinals will be arranged between the participating schools. The UIL will do the same for its state soccer tournaments.
No details have been announced concerning spectators at the state basketball tournaments, which San Antonio’s Alamodome will host. Fans were allowed at the state volleyball and football championships, among other events this year.
The girls state basketball tournament is set for March 5-6. The boys state basketball tournament will be March 12-13.
Last year, the boys state basketball tournament was postponed and eventually canceled because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
