RICHARD “RICK” BATES

1953-2021

Richard (Rick) Troy Bates passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2021.

Known for his love of music, football (specifically the Cowboys and Aggies) and especially his family, Rick was a brilliant conversationalist and could find common ground with anyone.

Rick married his beloved wife Jan in 1984 and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Grayson.

A two-way starter for the Robert E Lee Generals, Rick would go on to play football in college. He had a long career in Civil Engineering and most recently worked at RG Miller, where he was respected and loved by his co-workers.

Rick is preceded in death by his father, Richard Sr. Mourning his loss are his wife, two daughters, their spouses Matt and Shayne, his mother Anne and three siblings Mike, Brad and Jenifer.

A memorial service will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KPFT.org or sweetrelief.org.
