Storage facility burglary suspect dies in crash

The suspect in a Cypress burglary was killed in a crash while he allegedly was fleeing, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

Police receive a report of a burglary in process at a storage facility just after 6 a.m. Sunday.

“Someone noticed someone was trying to break into a business near Morton and Fry,” said Gilbert Guien of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The owner of the facility followed the suspect north on Greenhouse Road. The suspect ran a red light at Cypress North Houston Road and collided with another vehicle, police said.

The suspect was ejected from the car and killed. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, Guien said.
