Prince joins Texans’ coaching staff
The Texans have hired former Detroit Lions assistant coach Robert Prince to coach their wide receivers, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
Prince has previously coached for the Falcons, Jaguars and Seahawks.
A former passing game coordinator at Colorado and offensive coordinator at Boise State, Prince coached Lions standout wide receiver Kenny Golladay.
Golladay had 65 receptions for 1,190 receiving yards in 2019 and led the NFL with 11 touchdowns before dealing with a hamstring injury this season.
In 2016, Prince had three wide receivers catch 50 or more passes as five players caught 50 or more passes for the first time in franchise history.
The Texans have hired defensive coordinator Lovie Smith and quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton and retained offensive coordinator Tim Kelly and tight ends coach Will Lawing, according to sources. They are considering Colts assistant special teams coach Frank Ross for their specialteams coordinator.
