Diabetes could be yet another effect left by COVID

Some patients who had no prior history of diabetes developed elevated blood sugar while they had COVID-19 and went home with a diagnosis of full-blown diabetes.

Researcher­s say newonset diabetes may soon be added to complicati­ons from COVID-19 — both Type 1 and Type 2. But scientists do not know whether COVID-19 might hasten already developing problems or actually cause them, or both.
