UH assistant doesn’t stay long

Less than two weeks after being hired, University of Houston cornerback­s coach Jay Valai has left the program.

Valai, who Jwas announced Jan. 20 as the newest hire on Dana Hologorsen’s staff, will reportedly take a job with the Philadelph­ia Eagles. Valai previously coached at Texas.

In other news, Holgorsen announced Tuesday the addition of Archie McDaniel as linebacker­s coach. McDaniel joins the Cougars’ staff after spending the last two seasons at Texas State.

In other news:

• Video game maker EA Sports announced it is bringing back its college football series, shelved eight years ago after the NCAA was sued for not sharing revenue from the game with college athletes.

There is no timetable in place for the next release of the game, the company said Tuesday.
