CBS Sports play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz, who will call his sixth Super Bowl for the network Sunday, will receive a lifetime achievement award in April at the annual Houston Sports Awards presented by the Harris County Houston Sports Authority.

Nantz, 61, a former student and member of the golf team at the University of Houston, will be among a group that will be honored at the sports authority’s fourth annual awards presentation April 26 at the Carlton Woods Creekside Fazio Golf Course.

Former UH coaches Guy V. Lewis and Bill Yeoman, Astros Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Jeff Bgwell and former Texans receiver Andre Johnson will be inducted that evening into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.

“I can’t think of anything that would mean more to me than to be honored by the city of Houston,” Nantz said in a press release from the sports authority.

Nantz began his broadcast career at UH and worked at KTRH (740 AM) and KHOU (Channel 11) before working in Salt Lake City and then moving to CBS.
