Congress must act
Regarding “Tale of 2 Economies,” (A1 Jan 31): Thank you for your front page
story. The plight of Natalie Aldape is, indeed, dire. Far too many of our fellow Americans are struggling to put food on the table and pay rent.
The economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic is a monster of a problem that requires bold action to avert catastrophic global financial depression. We wouldn’t expect to rescue a drowning 200-pound man with a life preserver only large enough to save a 40-pound child. This in an emergency that requires immediate, decisive action.
Tell this new administration and your member of Congress we must act powerfully and quickly to avoid further hardship for struggling families and our economy. They must immediately pass strong COVID relief that prioritizes low-income renters, hungry families and workers trying to make ends meet. When we give workers like Natalie Aldape a hand up, we all benefit.
