Former Texans GM’s son signs with Maryland

- Adam Coleman

Robert Smith, Strake Jesuit wide receiver and son of former Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith, signed to play football at the University of Maryland on Wednesday.

“Robert is an awesome player,” said Strake Jesuit football head coach Klay Kubiak, son of former Texans coach Gary Kubiak. “He is super talented, but his biggest strength is his leadership and his character. He brought great culture to our program and it’s just the kind of personality he has. He’s going to be a leader at the next level. He’s got a lot of potential. He’s just going to keep getting better and better, faster and stronger. I think he’s going to be really good.”
