St. John’s shuts down No. 3 Villanova
NEW YORK — Posh Alexander scored 16 points and St. John’s smothered No. 3 Villanova, upsetting the ice-cold Wildcats 70-59 on Wednesday night to halt their nine-game winning streak.
Julian Champagnie had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Red Storm, who have won five straight.
Villanova had 17 turnovers and shot 32 percent.

It was Collier's second conecutive 30-point effort, her fifth straight game with at least 15 rebounds and her seventh doubledouble in a row.

RICE REMAINS IDLE
The Rice women’s team is being forced to miss a third straight weekend after postponing its twogame series against Southern Miss.
The school said activities will remain on pause “due to COVID-19 related issues and injuries.”
The next chance for the Owls (10-1, 7-0 C-USA) to play is Feb. 12 against Western Kentucky.
In the SEC, Texas A&M’s home game against Tennessee on Sunday was postponed due to issues affecting Tennessee. The Aggies will play Arkansas.
