GORDON BRIAN TANKERSLEY

-

1956-2021

After an illness this January, Gordon Brian Tankersley passed away on February 5th, surrounded by his family.

Brian gave his life to Christ at First Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, and never looked back from that decision for the rest of his life. There was no father more devoted or proud, nor a kinder husband, yet he somehow also found time to change Christian, country, and pop music. He was a steadfast encourager to those around him, but always brave enough to speak the truth in love. He never met someone he didn’t consider to be a friend. Brian believed in possibilities more than limits. He was fascinated with the inner workings of everything, and voided the factory warranty on anything he touched.

Though he was a Grammy award-winning and multiplatinum album producer, engineer, and mixer, he was most proud of the next generation of musicians that he constantly mentored and championed. He pioneered the worship facilities and studios at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas that made a basketball arena into a place where people could worship God together.

Brian was preceded into heaven by his father Gordon and his mother Betty. He will be deeply missed by his widow, Suzanne; daughters Amanda, Shelby, and Ashley; their mother Joan; sons-inlaw Aaron, Will, and Johnny; and his siblings Karen, Rick, and Mark and sister-in-law Sharon.
