MLS postpones opener to April 17

Commissioner Don Garber said the Major League Soccer season will begin April 17, two weeks later than originally announced because of extended labor negotiations. In other news:

The Dynamo re-signed defender Maynor Figueroa through the 2021 MLS season with a club option for 2022, the club announced.

The defender started in 19 games for the Dynamo in 2020 and led the club in blocks (20), clearances (73) and interceptions (41).
