Positive cases of COVID down to 15 percent

Montgomery County’s testing positive rate for COVID-19 has dropped to 15 percent after reaching 22 percent in December.

The suburban county added 22 new positive cases Thursday to bring the total number of active cases to 5,308. The county total case count increased 333 to 42,810.

The Montgomery County Public Health District also confirmed three additional deaths, bringing the total to 229. Three men in their 50s — from Conroe, Porter and New Caney — were hospitaliz­ed when they died. Total hospitaliz­ations increased by four to 175 with 52 of those patients in critical care beds.

The county is continuing a waiting list for the vaccinatio­n. The county call center is available for questions from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 936523-3916.
