CHRISTOPHER LEE GARCIA NATIONS

1987-2021

Christopher Lee Garcia Nations, age 33, a resident of Houston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, the 9th of February 2021. Born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, he moved to Houston as a baby and then grew up in Austin from the age of 2 to 16. From there he and his family moved back to Mexico. After a short time in Morelos, they moved to Acapulco, which came to hold a very special place in his heart.

Chris finished high school in Acapulco, having to quickly learn the Spanish language. He made many friends from all walks of life, young and old. He had a huge heart, a beautiful smile, and was kind to everyone. After holding a few odd jobs, he partnered with his father to start a business. Together they created the Acapulco Bikini Team, which was hired for events, and created and published a calendar to show off the most beautiful places in and around Acapulco. Chris loved photography and videography. He was able to learn a lot and get hands on experience in their business, even more so, in their next endeavor, Punta Bruja Films, which was a full production company for movies, commercials, series, and documentaries. Chris loved all of the behind-the-scenes work, operating the cameras, setting up the scenes, working with the director, and the constant search for new ideas for shows. He was very close to his family and enjoyed anything from huge family gatherings to just watching a movie with his parents and sister. He raised and trained several family dogs - pit bulls and rottweilers – his two favorite breeds. He enjoyed watching sunsets, swimming in the pool, going to the beach, spending time with friends, videogames, movies, fast cars, soccer, listening to music, going to clubs, and barbecuing on the grill with his Dad. At the age of 28, he left Acapulco and returned to Houston, where he began a new life on his own. Chris loved to travel and always dreamed of traveling all over the world and exploring new places. Though he visited Canada, Jamaica, California, Florida, Las Vegas, and Oaxaca, Mexico, he longed for much more.

In Houston, he fell in love with a beautiful girl from Colombia. They were married and on the 20th of May 2019, their angelic baby girl was born. Chris was overjoyed and loved being a father, both to his child and to his stepchildren. He loved to take care of them, play with them, teach them, and to show them new experiences. The birth of his child was overshadowed by the death of his father in Mexico 4 days before, but he did the best he could to cope. Chris loved to cook all kinds of food, had dreams of becoming a chef and owning his own restaurant someday, but his absolute favorite thing was barbecue. Having grown up barbecuing with his Dad, he already knew the basics and was always learning more by watching every show and video he could find. Chris started his own business, Chris’s Barbecue, and was doing very well. He was a perfectionist and would work on new recipes for days or weeks until they were just right. His next step was going to be the purchase of a food truck.

Christopher is predeceased by his father, Luis Antonio Garcia, his grandmother Lois Booher, his grandmother Rosalia Garcia, and his grandfather Cesar Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Mendoza; his baby daughter, Maya Lynn Garcia; his stepsons, Felipe and Santiago; his mother, Cindy Nations; his sister, Marisa Lynn Garcia and her unborn child, Aitana Lynn; his grandfather, Howard Nations; his step-grandfather, Charles Booher, and countless family and close friends across Texas and Mexico.

Chris firmly believed that everything happens for a reason. Although it’s hard to imagine why this tragedy had to happen, we hope and pray that his soul is now in peace.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from ten o’clock in the morning until noon on Sunday, the 14th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

The funeral service, complete with mariachis, will immediately follow the visitation at noon also in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception and join in the celebration of Chris’s life in the adjacent grand foyer.
