Astros affiliate debuts at home
The Sugar Land Skeeters will make their Class AAA debut at Constellation Field on April 28, part of a 142game Class AAA schedule released by Major League Baseball on Thursday.
The Skeeters, in their first year of affiliation with the Astros after playing as an independent franchise, will open their season with a 12-game road trip to Reno and Sacramento beginning April 8. All Class AAA teams are slated to open April 8 and play a 142-game season — contingent, of course, on the conditions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
Class AA and A leagues are scheduled to play 120 regular-season games beginning May 4. Corpus Christi remains the Astros’ Class AA team and will open its season in San Antonio, while Class A Advanced Asheville — the Astros’ other new affiliate — will open at home. Class A Fayetteville will open on the road.
