For the second time in three days, the University Interscholastic League has postponed the girls swimming and diving state championships because of winter weather issues.

The state meets were originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the North East ISD Davis Natatorium in San Antonio. They will now be held March 1-2 at the same location.

The UIL announced Tuesday the championships would be postponed until next Monday and Tuesday. The latest statement Thursday noted power outages and water shortages in San Antonio as the reason for the extended delay.

The Class 6A meet will be held March 1, and the Class 5A meet will follow the next day. Prelims will be held in the morning session both days, beginning at 10 a.m. Diving finals will begin at 2 p.m., and swimming finals will follow at 5 p.m.

The UIL is also allowing Sunday practices for teams competing at the girls state meets. Teams can hold practices Feb. 28 for no longer than two hours and beginning no earlier than 2 p.m.

Tickets purchased for the girls meets will be valid for the new dates.

The boys state championships are still set to be held as originally scheduled — Feb. 26-27, at the same location in San Antonio.
