Kidnapping suspect at large after chase

Law enforcement officials are still on the lookout for a kidnapping suspect after multiple agencies were led on a high-speed chase Thursday from Liberty to Beaumont.

Police have advised residents in the Beaumont area to be on the lookout for Brandon Mohamed, 20, described as a white man about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Mohamed is a resident of South Carolina and is accused of holding a woman from that state hostage as he drove across the South.

A witness in Liberty County reported a stolen truck that Mohamed and the woman were traveling in after seeing it reported on social media, and police in the area responded, kicking off the chase.

Multiple agencies tried to disable the vehicle as it traveled east on Texas 105. The chase eventually ended in Beaumont, and Mohamed fled on foot. Police were able to get the woman to safety.
