Man sought on murder charge already in jail

An El Paso man sought on a capital murder charge and listed this week among the county’s most-wanted fugitives is already in prison.

Marcos Damian Porras, now 26, was one of three men accused in the shooting death of 22-year-old Erik Aragon during a marijuana-deal robbery in a Horizon City parking lot in 2017.

El Paso County court records show Porras was indicted on the capital murder charge last December. It turns out that Porras is currently serving a nine-year sentence at a state prison in Fort Stockton, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

His projected release date is in 2028, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Porras was first arrested on the capital murder charge in January 2018 after Aragon was shot and killed during the sale of a “brick” of marijuana on the night of Nov. 4, 2017.
