NYC theaters allowed to reopen March 5
New York City movie theaters — a major market for moviegoing in the U.S. — can open their doors again at limited capacity starting March 5, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
Theaters can allow no more than 50 people per screening.
Shares in movie theater operators spiked after the announcement. AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., the largest U.S. movie theater chain, jumped as much as 17 percent on Monday. Cinemark Holdings Inc. rose 9.2 percent, and Imax Corp. gained as much as 5.6 percent.
