Sex offender is accused of violating parole

-

A convicted sex offender was arrested by the Fort Bend County Sheriff ’s Office on Feb. 16 for allegedly violating numerous conditions of his parole, including attending a child’s birthday party.

Court documents allege that James Paul Goates, 52, from Rosenberg attended a child’s birthday party with multiple small children in attendance. His parole was contingent upon having no contact with children under the age of 18. The same document states that in January 2019, Goates came within 45 feet of Needville High School while his parole conditions required that he maintain a distance of 1,000 feet from a school.

Authorities also alleged that Goates invited a child into his home on several occasions over the past two years.

Goates was found guilty in March of 2018 for the online sexual solicitation of a minor.

A new court date has not yet been set.
