Football openers postponed for TSU and Prairie View

Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M each have had its respective 2021 spring football opener scheduled for Saturday postponed and will now open against one another March 6 at Prairie View.

Tigers coach Clarence McKinney was informed Tuesday his team’s game at Arkansas-Pine Bluff was called off due to plumbing issues on the campus of UAPB. A tentative makeup date between the SWAC schools is set for April 24.

The State Fair Classic between Prairie View and Grambling State has been rescheduled and relocated. Due to the effects of last week’s winter storm in Texas, the annual showcase game moves from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas to Globe Life Park in Arlington and will be played March 13 at 3 p.m.
