LUCIA GRANADO VALDEZ

1924-2021

Lucia Granado Valdez was born in Fort Davis, Texas on March 9, 1924. Lucia, affectionately referred to as Mama Lucy died on February 16, 2021 in Pearland, Texas.

Lucia is a descendent of Refugia and Anton Diedrck Dutchover, founders of the West Texas town of Fort Davis. Lucia was preceded in death by her husband Francisco S. Valdez. Lucia is survived by her sister, Lita Marin; her daughterin-law and son Alice and Roberto G. Valdez; her granddaughters and their spouses Clarissa Valdez and Aaron Cernosek, Frances Valdez and Nelly Lopez; and her great grandchildren Luca Cernosek, Petronilo Cernosek, Rumaldo Cernosek, and Francis Lopez Valdez.

Mama Lucy was the foundation for the Valdez family. Her love and labor at home allowed for us to focus on our education, our work, our passions, and our dreams. We would be nothing without her and we miss her dearly.
