Emma Elizabeth Frizzell was born on August 26, 1958 to Agnes V. Wingate Frizzell and Robert H. Frizzell, Jr. in Houston, TX. She died peacefully at Harbor Hospice Central Houston on January 29, 2021.

Emma (Liz) was a talented artist and received her BA in from Rice University. She was also a valued design and production associate at the Houston graphic design firm Public Address Design for twenty-five years. She was closely involved with designing over 100 art monographs and exhibition catalogues for galleries and museums, including retrospect­ives at the Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, and Contempora­ry Arts Museum, all in Houston; Philadelph­ia Museum of Art; and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Metropolit­an Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, all in New York. Reflecting her interests in cartoons, comics, and animation, and in Houston history, she was especially responsibl­e for work on two Contempora­ry Arts Museum catalogues: “Splat! Boom! Pow!: The Influence of Cartoons in Contempora­ry Art” and “No Zoning: Artists Engage Houston.” She enabled the realizatio­n of the River Oaks Garden Club’s 670-page, fifth edition of “A Garden Book for Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast,” for which she designed the voluminous charts and graphs on organic gardening.

Emma is survived by her brother Robert Walter and wife Linda of San Marcos, TX; brother Bradley Wingate and wife Elaina of Knoxville, TN. The family wishes to thank Joyce Harris and Don Quaintance for their many years of loving friendship and care of Emma.

There will be a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Andrew (Andy) Gans in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX on Saturday, February 27, 2021, 11:00 A.M.
