ROBERT F HARRIS

1949-2021

-

Robert Franklin Harris, Jr, 71, died of COVID-19 in The Woodlands, Texas, on February 5, 2021.

Robert, the son of Bob and Dorothy Harris, grew up and lived most of his life in Pasadena, Texas, although the family spent their summers at a cabin in Wimberley, Texas, to avoid the polio epidemic in the Houston area. He graduated from LaPorte High School and San Jacinto Junior College. After high school graduation, he worked for a few years at Champion Paper Company but spent most of his 40-year career at Lubrizol in Deer Park, Texas.

Although Robert lived most of his life in Pasadena, he and wife, Alma Harris, built a home and moved to Huffman, Texas, in 2002. Upon retirement, he and his wife developed a health insurance business. Robert thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and helping them with their health insurance questions. He enjoyed travelling with Alma and the rest of their family including trips to Spain, Morocco, Washington, DC, and Dominican Republic.

All who knew him, knew they could count on Robert to help whenever needed. He was always the first to respond to any problem at the Wimberley cabin and he and Alma in later years spent a good deal of time helping family members with medical problems. Perhaps the nurse with him throughout his weeks in ICU described him best: “He was the kindest, sweetest man I ever met.”

Robert is survived by his wife Alma of Huffman, Texas, his daughter Angie Perez of Katy, Texas, sisters Dianne Wheeler, (Mike) and Darlene Wuensche, (Bill) of Austin, Texas, grandchildren Ashley, Mark, and Catherine, nieces and nephews and greatgrandchildren and all who adored him.

Robert will be buried at Forest Park Cemetery on Lawndale at 2PM on March 5 beside his parents and his daughter, Tammy Lea Harris Coronado.
