UH hopes it finally has its cornerbacks coach

-

David Rowe was hired as cornerbacks coach at the University of Houston, coach Dana Holgorsen announced Tuesday, ending a 53-day search in which two hires backed out for other jobs.

Rowe spent the past two seasons as secondary coach at Central Michigan. Before that, Rowe was defensive backs coach at Valdosta State, helping the Blazers to a 14-0 record and Division II national title in 2018.

Rowe replaces Zac Etheridge, who left for the same position at Auburn on Jan. 8.

Less than two weeks later, Holgorsen hired Jay Valai, who left 12 days later for a position with the Philadelphia Eagles before eventually joining Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama. On Feb. 8, UH announced the hiring of Grady Brown, the defensive coordinator at McNeese State, but he left after less than week for a job with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
