Butler, No. 3 Baylor outlast Oklahoma St.

WACO — Jared Butler scored 22 points, and No. 3 Baylor, fresh off clinching its first Big 12 title on the road two days earlier, beat No. 17 Oklahoma State 81-70 on Thursday night to end the Cowboys’ fivegame winning streak.

The Bears (20-1, 12-1 Big 12) seem to have their legs back under them after a three-week stretch without any games because of COVID-19 issues in the program. Their fourth game in 10 days came after winning in overtime at No. 6 West Virginia on Tuesday night for the school’s first league title since 1950 in the Southwest Conference.

Freshman standout and Big 12 leading scorer Cade Cunningham, considered by most as the potential No. 1 overall NBA draft pick, had 24 points, and Kalib Boone added 10 for Oklahoma State (17-7, 10-7).

NO. 2 MICHIGAN 69 MICHIGAN STATE 50

Franz Wagner scored 19 points, Hunter Dickinson added 14, and the host Wolverines wrapped up the Big Ten title with a victory over the rival Spartans.

Michigan (19-2, 14-2) had a chance to clinch the championsh­ip based on winning percentage with a victory in any of its final three games. The Wolverines were blown out by No. 4 Illinois — the team chasing them — on Tuesday night, but they rebounded with a gritty effort two nights later.

Aaron Henry scored 14 points for Michigan State (14-11, 8-11), which will finish with a losing conference record for the first time since 1993.

NO. 5 IOWA 102 NEBRASKA 64

Jordan Bohannon tied a career high with eight 3-pointers and scored 26 points, and the Hawkeyes routed the visiting Cornhusker­s. The senior guard made eight of 12 3-point attempts, but he played just eight minutes in the second half as Iowa (19-7, 13-6 Big Ten) topped the 100-point mark for the fourth time this season.

NO. 6 WEST VIRGINIA 76 TCU 67

Redshirt freshman Jalen Bridges set seasons highs with 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mountainee­rs to a victory over the visiting Horned Frogs.

West Virginia (18-7, 11-5 Big 12) bounced back from an overtime loss to No. 3 Baylor on Tuesday, sweeping the regular-season series from TCU.

Jaedon LeDee scored a season-high 18 points for TCU (12-12, 5-10).

NO. 13 KANSAS 67, UTEP 62

Marcus Garrett scored on a driving layup with 22.4 seconds to go, and Dajuan Harris added a pair of clinching free throws as the host Jayhawks (19-8) overcame a 15-point second-half deficit and beat the Miners (12-11) in what was supposed to be a Big 12 tournament tune-up.

NO. 18 TEXAS TECH 81 IOWA STATE 54

Mac McClung scored 20 points, and the host Red Raiders beat the Cyclones for their third consecutiv­e victory following a threegame losing streak.

Marcus Santos-Silva had 14 points and seven rebounds to help Texas Tech (17-8, 9-7 Big 12) wrap up its home schedule with a fifth consecutiv­e victory over Iowa State (2-20, 0-17), the longest winning streak for either team in the series.

McKinley Wright IV scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half, and the host Buffaloes (20-7, 14-6 Pac-12) shook off a sluggish start to beat the Sun Devils (10-12, 7-9).

PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 68 SOUTHERN 61

Jawaun Daniels scored 15 points as the host Panthers beat the Jaguars to stretch their winning streak to 12 games. D’Rell Roberts added 13 points for Prairie View A&M (13-4, 12-0 SWAC).

TEXAS SOUTHERN 80 ALCORN STATE 79

Michael Weathers had 18 points to lead five players in double figures as the Tigers narrowly defeated the visiting Braves. Justin Hopkins added 17 points for Texas Southern (11-8, 8-3 SWAC).

NO. 4 STANFORD 92 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 53

Ashten Prechtel had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cardinal to a win over the Trojans in a Pac-12 quarterfin­al at Las Vegas.

Haley Jones and Hannah Jump each had 14 points, and Lacie Hull added 10 points for Stanford (23-2, 19-2), which improved to 48-6 all-time in the Pac-12 tournament and 18-1 in the quarterfin­als.

RICE 64, NORTH TEXAS 58

Nancy Mulkey had 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots, and the Owls slipped past the Mean Green. Lauren Schwartz added 12 points and eight rebounds for Rice (16-2, 12-1 Conference USA). Jazion Jackson led North Texas (12-6, 9-4) with 20 points.

SOUTHERN 70 PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 39

Kennedy Paul was the lone Panthers player to score in double figures, finishing with 13 points as Prairie View A&M (3-12, 2-10 SWAC) was routed by the visiting Jaguars.

TEXAS SOUTHERN 60 ALCORN STATE 50

Ataiya Bridges scored 19 points, Namiko Adams added 15, and the host Tigers beat the Braves to improve to 5-8 overall and 4-7 in the SWAC.
