Green, Sixers deal slumping Lakers fourth straight defeat

LOS ANGELES — Danny Green hit eight threepoint­ers and scored a game-high 28 points against his former team and the East-leading Philadelph­ia 76ers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 109-101 on Thursday night.

The Sixers have won four straight and 10 of their last 11 games. The Lakers, playing without injured stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, have dropped four in a row.

The Lakers traded Green in the offseason to acquire Dennis Schroder, who had 20 points and a season-high 11 assists. Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers with 25 points.

Philadelph­ia led by 18 points in the second half, but the Lakers made a late 18-6 run to trim the margin to 102-98 with 2:20 to play. Green beat the shot clock with a sideline 3-pointer in the final minute to ice it.

CLIPPERS 98, SPURS 85

Reggie Jackson scored 28 points, Paul George had 24 points and 13 rebounds and short-handed Los Angeles rallied in the second half to beat host San Antonio for their fourth straight victory.

DeMar DeRozan had 23 points for San Antonio. The Spurs have lost four straight.

Los Angeles was without Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris, Serge Ibaka and Patrick Beverley due to injury.

KINGS 141, WARRIORS 119

De’Aaron Fox had a career-best 44 points as host Sacramento beat Golden State.

Fox shot 16 of 22 and added seven assists.

Tyrese Haliburton added 21 points with a careerhigh six 3-pointers, and Richaun Holmes had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings.

TRAIL BLAZERS 125 HEAT 122

Damian Lillard made three free throws with one second remaining, and Portland survived a wild finish to win at Miami.

Lillard was fouled by Miami’s Trevor Ariza on a 3-point attempt. Miami didn’t have a time-out remaining and never got a tying shot off, after its inbounds pass was deflected away.

CJ McCollum had 35 points for Portland, which got 22 points from Lillard.

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro each had 29 points for Miami, which dropped its fifth consecutiv­e game.

KNICKS 106, WIZARDS 102

Alec Burks scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and host New York beat Washington to sweep the two-game set.

Bradley Beal had 26 points and nine assists for the Wizards. Russell Westbrook was 3-for-15 from the field and finished with 13 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists.
