La Colombe d’Or
THE CONCEPT
The $10 million makeover of La Colombe d’Or hotel has made the historic Montrose property the hot new place to eat and drink courtesy of Tonight & Tomorrow restaurant (formerly Cinq) and Bar No. 3.
THE SPACE
Houston’s Rottet Studio has designed the restaurant and bar with graphic wall coverings, velvet banquettes, black-glass dining tables and leather chairs. Artwork from the private collections of the Zimmerman family, the owners of the venture, is displayed throughout; large windows let in plenty of natural light.
THE FOOD
Tonight & Tomorrow chef Jonathan Wicks has created
breakfast, lunch and dinner menus of modern European cuisine with nods to Southern flavors and Texas traditions: French omelets, chilaquiles, Gulf crudo, crab ravigote, proper club sandwich
and house burger, steak frites, pasta, roasted chicken, rack of lamb, market fish and bone-in prime ribeye.
THE DRINKS
Bar No. 3 offers
wine and champagne by the glass and a lineup of cocktails, including Steel Magnolia (vodka, lemon, jasmine and egg white), French Dispatch (gin, sparkling wine, strawberry and lemon), L’Air de Panache (cognac, rye, Amaro and Benedictine) and Rushmore Acadamy (cold brew coffee, bourbon and orgeat). The bar snacks menu includes chips and charred onion dip, gravlax carpaccio, house burger, shrimp cocktail and cheese and charcuterie.
THE WORD
“La Colombe d’Or has been a culinary and cocktail destination for our city for over four decades,” said Dan Zimmerman, principal of La Colombe d’Or. “Our newly redesigned hotel spaces … reflect the energy of our neighborhood.”
