1. ROCO

ROCO wraps up a virtual season with a program titled “Flamenco.” Among the pieces performed will be the world premiere of “The History of Red” by Reena Esmail based on text by poet Linda Hogan and featuring soprano Kathryn Mueller. Also making its world premiere will be “Princesa de la Luna,” composed by Quinn Mason for harp and strings. Rounding out the program will be Samuel Berber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915,” Errollyn Wallen’s “Photograph­y” and Carlos Surinach’s “Ritmo Jondo,” during which ROCO will be joined by Solero Flamenco.

2. ‘White Rabbit

Red Rabbit’

Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpo­ur’s “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” has become something of a sensation over the past several years, particular­ly for its setup, described on Broadway.com as “No rehearsal. No director. No set. No spoilers. A different performer each night is handed the script for the first time as they step onto the stage.” The 4th Wall Theatre Company began its virtual run of “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” earlier this week, with nine actors lined up for nine showings. The performanc­e on April 24 is a particular­ly special event, with Laura Linney taking on the script.

3. ‘BYOBard’

The Main Street Theater’s BYOBard returns this week, though virtually. That said, what better time for its organized readings of the works of William Shakespear­e than his 457th birthday. Main Street is pairing with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Rienzi for live readings, a video by the museum’s Second Folio and more offerings related to the bard.

The public is invited to an opening reception for Hong Hong’s large-scale, site-responsive work, “Reading the Weather,” that is being installed outside Art League Houston, marking the first time one of her pieces will be physically installed in an outdoor setting for an extended time. It will take up residence on the facade of ALH’s building, near the Sculpture Garden. The piece is meant to interact with the environmen­t, showing shifts in our environmen­tal atmosphere while recording the passage of time.

5. ‘SHIFT’

Dimmitt Contempora­ry Art tapped 15 female artists to celebrate a new season of new perspectiv­es. “SHIFT,” a group exhibition featuring a mix of establishe­d and emerging talent, opens April 29 and makes an interestin­g case: perhaps every day should be internatio­nal women’s day.

6. ‘Riveter Edition II” The Wow Gallery and Simone on Sunset invite you and your “ARTourage” to celebrate female artists from Houston and abroad. Think Sunday funday, but make it artsy with bottomless mimosas, art performanc­es and an interactiv­e art experience.
