1940-2021

-

Nick “PoPo” Bramlett passed away in the early morning on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. He lived a full life.

PoPo loved doing all things outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He loved hunting dove, duck and geese, but spending time with some of his closest friends at his deer lease in Sonora, TX was his favorite. Knowing PoPo, you know that he had gift for gab, always had something to say or story to be told around the camp fire in Sonora!

His other passion was all things involving Golf. Besides playing the game, he enjoyed the promotion and preservation of the game that eventually led him to become a PGA rules official. He truly loved volunteering, mentoring and just being involved. Each year, the Texas Golf Association and Legends Junior Tour recognizes a volunteer in each the North and South Regions of Texas for their distinctive dedication to the game of golf and their tireless support. PoPo was so proud he was recognized by the Legends Junior Tour as volunteer of the year in 2013 and South Texas Region volunteer of year in 2016.

What made him so proud are these awards are annually given out at the most prestigious Texas Golf Association Championship in the presence of the top amateur golfers of the state and his peers!

PoPo was born in Dodd City, TX but grew up in La Porte, TX on Galveston Bay. Like many of his childhood friends, they were commonly referred to as “bay boys”, for their love of the water, whether it going after blue crab, fishing, or boating in bay. After graduating La Porte high school in 1958 he moved to Houston, got married, started a family and graduated with a BBA from University of Houston in 1967.

For the majority of his life PoPo was an accountant by trade, working at Riviana Foods in a number of key management roles for over 20 years. He eventually started his own company in the late 80’s, Wes-Phil a supply company for the signage industry. He eventually sold the business and happily retired. During that time, he met and married Beverly. They were together till his death.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernice Alder and Samuel Franklin Bramlett and his brother Gerald Bramlett.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Bramlett; his children Kimberly Bramlett of Austin TX; Chuck Bramlett (wife Lori) of Missouri City TX; Trish Milstead (husband Lyle) of Houston, TX, stepson Jeff Stokes (wife Cindi) Tennessee, Brian Stokes Canada; and treasured grandchildren Alex and Michael Milstead; Bronson, Clayton, and Tatum Bramlett and Jace Stokes.

Dad-your family and friends are glad you are no longer suffering and we know you’re enjoying many rounds of golf in heaven. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Texas Golf Association; txga.org/makea-general-donation
