Sandra S. Hamil “Sandy”, passed away on April 20, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born on November 19, 1940 to Shay and Olene Sawyer in Springhill, Louisiana. Sandy grew up in Springhill and graduated from Northweste­rn State University in Natchitoch­es, Louisiana, Once settled in Houston, she had a fulfilling career in the building materials industry. She made many lifelong friends during her career, as she did everywhere else in her life. To Sandy, everyone was a friend, regardless of the relationsh­ip that brought them together.

Following retirement, she enjoyed travels to many wonderful and foreign destinatio­ns and loved telling stories of the many adventures she had visiting these places with her husband Wray. She also served as a docent for the Houston Holocaust Museum for a number of years and was very active in the Riverstone community in Sugar Land, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shay and Olene Sawyer and husband, Wray Hamil. She is survived by her son; Greg Starks, and wife Rona, and granddaugh­ter, Courtney. Brother; Jerry Sawyer, nephew David Sawyer and wife Leslie, his son Shay and daughter Lindsay. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Jeanette, step-grandson Nate and his children Isla and Brady. Her family also includes several cousins who are close members of the family.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Houston Humane Society in honor of her beloved buddies, Dudley Roxxi, and Heidi, or a charity of your choice would be most appreciate­d. Friends are invited to attend the Memorial service on May 8, 2021 at 10am at Settegast-Kopf at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
