Debra (Debbie) Ann Hinze Crum went home to the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021. Born on January 15, 1955 in Neenah, Wisconsin, Debbie grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Settling in Houston, Texas, she met her future husband and love of her life, Charles Stephen (Steve) Crum and they married in 1980. Debbie thrived in the non-profit sector, lending her talents and goodwill to charitable organizati­ons including Northwest Assistance Ministries and Gladney Center for Adoption. She cherished her role as mother and “Mimi” to her beloved daughter, Courtney Suzann Beene and her beautiful granddaugh­ter, Natalie Victoria Beene. Debbie found much joy in travel - she loved visiting Padre Island, Ruidoso, New Mexico, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Lake Charles, Louisiana and many trips back home to Michigan throughout her life to visit with family and friends. A lover of music, she was especially drawn to the Sound of Motown and relished the chance to dance to her favorites. A consummate cook, she would frequently entertain family and friends at home with her culinary prowess. Card games, such as bridge and poker, were another love of hers and she enjoyed many trips to casinos where she frequently and proudly won big. Debbie also loved classic television and was an ardent, lifelong fan of Lucille Ball and the TV show, I Love Lucy. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine J. (Erickson) Hinze, her father, Wellington A. Hinze, and her sister, Kay E. (Hinze) Kramer. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney, her granddaugh­ter, Natalie, her husband, Steve, as well as niece, Jennifer Seitz, nephews, Tom Kolles and Charlie Smith, various grandniece­s and brother-in-law and sisterin-law, Harry and Kathy (Crum) Smith. A service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 5 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd. Houston, TX 77065.
