Laura Mitchell Mullins was born January 3, 1934 to James Henry Mitchell and Edna Boney Mitchell. She attended school in Fairfield, Alabama and graduated early with her bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University where she pledged and became a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

She met Harold Mullins Sr. in Alabama and they married July 25, 1955. Laura taught school in Mississipp­i and Tennessee. They would later move to Houston, Texas in 1966 where her husband Dr. Harold Mullins, Sr. started to practice medicine. She lived a long beautiful life raising her five children, traveling, serving her church as a Deaconess, volunteeri­ng for Meals on Wheels, being a distinguis­hed member of the TK Socialites, Jack and Jill of America, the Parkwood Civic Club, and a beautiful supportive wife to her husband for 63 years at the time of his passing in 2019. She went home to be with the Lord May 26, 2021.

An afternoon visitation will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Her life will be celebrated on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Prior to service, visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

All services will be held in the Rose Chapel of Mabrie Memorial Mortuary.

She is survived by her 5 children, Harold Mullins Jr. (Judy), Eric Mullins (Annette), Anthony Mullins, Allison Mullins, and Rodney Mullins, 17 grandchild­ren, 6 great grandchild­ren, her honorary daughters Lillie Walker and Veda Burns, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
