TCU rallies late to rout McNeese

FORT WORTH — Austin Krob had a career-high 13 strikeouts over eight innings to help No. 6 overall seed and regional host TCU beat McNeese 12-4 in the Fort Worth Regional on Friday night.

The Horned Frogs (41-17) advanced to the early game on Saturday, a winners bracket matchup against No. 3 regional seed Dallas Baptist. The Cowboys (32-29) will face No. 2 regional seed Oregon State in the late game Saturday, a loser-out contest.

Krob (8-1) gave up a pair of singles to the first two batters he faced in the top of the ninth before being relieved by Harrison Beethe.

McNeese led 2-1 through the middle of the seventh before TCU scored 11 runs over the seventh and eighth innings.

Cole Moore and Andrew Benefield each had a home run and two RBIs to lead the Patriots in the Fort Worth Regional.

TEXAS TECH 6, ARMY 3

Cal Conley hit two home runs, Braxton Fulford added another, and the Red Raiders rolled in the opening game of the Lubbock Regional.

The No. 1 national seed Razorbacks rebounded from a three-run deficit with a two-run third inning and a seven-run fourth in the Fayettevil­le Regional.

Drew Gilbert hit a walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning and the No. 3 overall seed Volunteers escaped with a victory in the Knoxville Regional.

Riley Hogan went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Bulls to open the Gainesvill­e Regional.

Niko Kavadas connected on two of the Irish’s four home runs against the Chippewas to start the South Bend Regional.

Wes Clarke hit his nation-leading 23rd home run of the season for the Gamecocks in the Columbia Regional.

Brady Gulakowski hit a three-run homer in backto-back innings, and the Flames ended the Blue Devils’ 12-game winning streak to begin the Knoxville Regional.

Thomas Francisco hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Pirates in the Greenville Regional.

FLORIDA STATE 5 SOUTHERN MISS 2

Parker Messick allowed seven hits and two runs — none earned — with five strikeouts over six innings fpr the Seminoles in the Oxford Regional.

CHARLOTTE 13 MARYLAND 10

David McCabe hit a pair of home runs and scored three times and Jack Dragum went 4-for-4 with a homer to lead the 49ers to victory in the Greenville Regional.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE 8 ALABAMA 1

Jose Torres went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Wolfpack in the Ruston Regional.

GEORGIA TECH 7 INDIANA STATE 6

Andrew Jenkins went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and scored twice, and the Yellow Jackets rallied to beat the Sycamores in the Nashville Regional.

STANFORD 9 NORTH DAKOTA STATE 1

Cardinal pitcher Alex Williams pitched seven innings and combined with two relievers to hold the Bison to four hits and 11 strikeouts in the Stanford Regional.

VANDERBILT 10 PRESBYTERI­AN 0

Kumar Rocker struck out nine over seven innings and gave up just two hits for the 2019 defending national champs in the Nashville Regional.
