Toe, ankle injuries force Jacobs to sit

- WIRE REPORTS

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs will miss Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh with injuries to his toe and ankle.

Jacobs didn’t practice all week for the Raiders after rushing for 34 yards and two touchdowns in a season-opening 33-27 win in overtime over Baltimore on Monday night.

Kenyan Drake will continue in his role as a change-of-pace back, with Peyton Barber taking on a big chunk of Jacobs’ load, coach Jon Gruden said.

Fuller’s return is pushed back

The Miami Dolphins again will be without speedy wide receiver Will Fuller for their home opener against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Friday that the former Texans deep threat, who finished a six-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs in Week 1, is dealing with a personal issue.

Browns LB out for Texans game

Starting linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. was placed on IR and will miss at least three games with a hamstring injury.

Walker got hurt in Thursday’s practice. He led Cleveland with nine tackles in last week’s 33-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and he’s also the Browns’ signal-caller on defense.

Cowboys down another lineman

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe is out for Sunday’s game at the Los Angeles Chargers after being hospitalized overnight after suffering from heat illness in practice Thursday.

The Cowboys already have lost starting right tackle La’el Collins to a drug suspension.

Saints to extend stay in Texas

The New Orleans Saints have decided to continue practicing at TCU next week in preparation for their Week 3 game at New England before returning to their New Orleans-area headquarters in Week 4, when they will host the New York Giants in the Superdome, coach Sean Payton said.

The Saints have been displaced to the Dallas area since Aug. 28, when they flew on hastily arranged charter flights as Hurricane Ida approached Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane.

Packers’ Smith heading to IR

The back issue that bothered Green Bay outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith throughout the preseason will now force the Packers to play without their Pro Bowl pass rusher for at least the next three games.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Smith is going on injured reserve after practicing just one day during training camp and playing only 18 snaps in the Packers’ 38-3 season-opening loss to the Saints.
