Martin, Dickinson down Dobie

Dickinson is back in the win column.

After suffering back-to-back losses against strong Ridge Point and Katy teams, respective­ly, the Gators earned a 48-27 home victory over previously unbeaten Dobie on Friday night.

Dickinson (2-2), the No. 11 team in the Class 6A area rankings, found the end zone early and often against a Longhorns squad that had outscored its first three opponents 188-6.

The Gators were led by quarterbac­k Luke Martin, who accounted for five total touchdowns — three rushing and two passing. The senior signal-caller rushed for 229 yards on 12 carries.

Marquis Johnson reached the end zone three times, including once on a kickoff return, and Donovan Green reeled in his fourth touchdown catch of the year. Dobie only allowed 521 yards in its first three games. Dickinson finished with 473.

Trajan Davis rushed for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Longhorns (3-1).

Dickinson begins District 24-6A play at Clear Falls on Friday. The Gators have won seven consecutiv­e matchups against the Knights, including a 37-20 victory last season.

Dobie will open its District 22-6A slate at home against Channelvie­w on Thursday. The Longhorns have won four of the past five meetings, including a 72-21 victory last year.

Unbeaten Clear Falls makes school history

Clear Falls is crushing the competitio­n.

The Knights, the No. 13 team in the Class 6A area rankings, improved to 4-0 for the first time in school history with a 37-21 home victory over previously unbeaten Cinco Ranch on Friday.

Payton Greer had two rushing touchdowns for Clear Falls, and Landon Vessel and Luke Vidal connected for a pair of scores through the air. Max Williams had a 102-yard kickoff return.

Seth Salverino had six catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns for Cinco Ranch (3-1).

The Cougars begin District 19-6A action Thursday against No. 8 state-ranked Tompkins. Tompkins has won the past two matchups by a combined score of 113-0.

North Shore bounces back with big win

After suffering its first loss of the season against Westfield last week, North Shore bounced back with a 58-34 home victory over Klein Oak on Friday night.

The Mustangs (3-1), who dropped from No. 4 to No. 13 in the state rankings, piled up 445 total yards against the Panthers (1-3), including 240 passing by Wyndell Mitchell.

Mitchell threw two touchdown passes, and Xavier Owens rushed for two to lead the offense. Jhalyn Bailey finished with five catches for 83 yards and a pair of scores.

North Shore also got big contributi­ons on special teams as Christophe­r Barnes returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Evan Jackson took a punt return to the house.

North Shore will begin its District 21-6A title defense on the road against Beaumont West Brook on Friday. The Mustangs have won nine consecutiv­e games against the Bruins and have scored at least 54 points in each of the past three meetings.

Rayburn rolling after Sam Houston shutout

Sam Rayburn is 4-0 for just the second time in school history.

The Texans rolled to a 39-0 victory over Sam Houston on Friday at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium. The program also won its first four games in 2004.

Sam Rayburn begins District 22-6A play at Deer Park on Friday. The Texans are 0-10 against the Deer since 2005.

Schedule shuffled for Saturday games

Two District 16-6A games will be played Saturday after they were moved from their original Thursday night kickoffs.

Cypress Park (3-0), the No. 9 team in the Class 6A area rankings, will take on Cypress Springs (1-2) at noon at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Cypress Woods (1-2) and Cypress Falls (1-2) will tangle at 6 p.m. at Pridgeon Stadium.

Two non-district games originally scheduled for Thursday were also moved to Saturday. KIPP Sunnyside (1-0) will play Yates (1-1) at 10 a.m. at Barnett Stadium. Pasadena Memorial (0-3) and Westbury (1-2) will battle at 6 p.m. at Pasadena ISD Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Thursday notes

• No. 3 state-ranked Manvel ran roughshod over B.F. Terry on Thursday, earning a 41-6 victory and improving to 2-0 in District 10-5A Division I action.

The Mavericks (3-0) were led by De’Monte’ Seymore, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.

• Seven Lakes was dominant during its final non-district tuneup, defeating Heights 28-6 at Delmar Stadium.

Grayson Medford and Barrett Hudson each had a rushing touchdown for the Spartans (3-1).
