Dawson cruises past Alvin

Dramatic. Decisive. Dawson has won both ways.

But all that matters to the Eagles is keeping pace with the District 23-6A front-runners.

After earning a three-point victory over Strake Jesuit last week, Dawson kept rolling Friday evening at The Rig. The Eagles beat Alvin 35-21 for their third straight win.

Dawson (6-2, 4-1) remains one game behind first-place teams Pearland (6-2, 5-0) and Shadow Creek (6-2, 5-0), which both took care of business with victories Friday.

Pearland beat Hastings 56-6, and Shadow Creek crushed Elsik 49-0.

Colin Johnson passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns to lead Dawson. Bryce Burgess rushed for 91 yards and two scores, Ashton Stroman had five catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Reese Henry collected an intercepti­on on defense.

Klein Cain bounces back with big win

Klein Cain had won six consecutiv­e games before losing to Klein Collins last week.

The Hurricanes showed their resilience Friday evening with a 31-3 victory over Klein Oak in a key District 15-6A matchup at Klein Memorial Stadium.

Quarterbac­k Carson Roper accounted for three total touchdowns, including two rushing and one passing. Drew Stokes rushed for 89 yards and a score. Matthew Golden had 75 receiving yards and an intercepti­on on defense, and Patrick Batiste had two picks.

The Hurricanes (7-2, 4-1) close the regular season next week against Tomball.

Unbeaten Westfield demolishes Dekaney

No. 7 state-ranked Westfield rolled to a 55-0 victory over Dekaney in District 14-6A action Friday evening at Planet Ford Stadium.

The Mustangs (8-0, 4-0) have outscored their district opponents 266-27 this season and remain in the driver’s seat to

capture the outright league crown.

Westfield closes the regular season against Aldine and Eisenhower.

Deer Park closing in on Dist. 22-6A crown

Deer Park just keeps drubbing district foes.

The Deer earned their fifth consecutiv­e victory Friday evening, beating Pasadena 55-0 at Abshier Stadium. The win moves Deer Park (7-2, 5-0) one step closer to the 22-6A crown.

The Deer have scored at least 49 points in every district game and are averaging 53.4.

Cinco Ranch takes down Katy Taylor

Cinco Ranch collected a muchneeded victory in District 19-6A action Friday evening, beating Katy Taylor 49-20 at Legacy Stadium.

The Cougars (5-3, 2-2) entered the night on the fringe of the playoff picture, but their only two district losses came against the two strongest teams: Katy and Tompkins.

Cinco Ranch will finish out the regular season against Morton Ranch and Seven Lakes.

Thursday notes

Jersey Village remained unbeaten with a 55-3 victory over Spring Woods in District 17-6A action Thursday at Pridgeon Stadium. Xavier Joyce rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries for the Falcons (8-0, 5-0). Adam Tran passed for 142 yards and three scores. Jersey Village has a huge game against Stratford (7-0, 4-0) next week.

Houston Sterling maintained its second-place standing in District 11-5A Division II with a 42-31 victory over Willowridg­e on Thursday at Hall Stadium. Cameron Patterson had three rushing touchdowns for the Raiders (6-3, 6-1), who have secured their highest win total since 2006. Jacob Myers had two intercepti­ons and returned one for a score.

Channelvie­w took care of business in District 22-6A with a 55-7 victory over Sam Rayburn on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Demetrias Charles passed for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 104 yards and two more scores.

Morton Ranch evened its record in District 19-6A with a 43-17 victory over Mayde Creek on Thursday at Legacy Stadium. Santana Scott had another big performanc­e for the Mavericks (4-4, 2-2) with 229 rushing yards and two touchdowns. D’Isaac Fernandez and Tyre Washington each had an intercepti­on on defense.

Manvel won its third straight game in District 10-5A Division I on Thursday at Alvin Memorial Stadium, beating Kemper 70-14. The Mavericks (6-2, 5-1) piled up 348 rushing yards, led by 96 from Lemarkus Owens.

Clear Springs remained near the top of the District 24-6A standings with a 52-21 victory over Brazoswood on Thursday at Challenger Columbia Stadium. Xai’Shaun Edwards had another big game with 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Noah Thomas had 61 receiving yards and took a kickoff return 75 yards to the house.

Klein Forest pulled out a 54-43 victory over Tomball Memorial in District 15-6A action Thursday at Klein Memorial Stadium. Klein Forest (5-4, 1-4) piled up 601 yards of total offense. Kendrick Bradley rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries. Parker Jenkins added 76 yards and two touchdowns.
