Alief Taylor, Tomball make playoffs

Alief Taylor is headed back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 following a 56-33 victory over Alvin in District 23-6A action Friday night at Crump Stadium.

The Lions (6-4, 4-3) will take on No. 23 state-ranked Dickinson (8-2, 5-0), the District 24-6A champion, in the Class 6A Division I bi-district playoffs next week.

Alonzo Hines led the charge against Alvin, rushing for 136 yards and four touchdowns on just 14 carries. Quarterbac­k Chase Jenkins passed for 131 yards and two scores and added 89 yards and another touchdown on the ground.

The win for Taylor also had a ripple effect as it sent Dawson (7-3, 5-2) to the Division II bracket where the Eagles will face off against Clear Falls (9-1, 5-1) next week.

Tomball clinches final postseason berth

Tomball lives to fight another day.

The Cougars earned the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 15-6A with a 35-14 victory over Klein on Friday at Tomball ISD Stadium.

Tomball (7-3, 3-3) is making its first playoff appearance since 2018 and will take on 16-6A champion Cypress Park (8-1, 5-1) in the 6A Division II bi-district round.

Ridge Point secures outright district title

There is no dispute -- Ridge Point is the top dog in District 20-6A.

The Panthers (9-1, 7-0) clinched the outright league crown with a 31-17 victory over Travis (6-4, 5-2) on Friday evening at Hall Stadium.

No. 21 state-ranked Ridge Point has won seven consecutiv­e games and will face off against Seven Lakes (7-3, 4-2) in the 6A Division I bi-district playoffs next week. Travis, meanwhile, will take on No. 25 Tompkins (9-1, 5-1) in the opening round.

Texas City cruises past Barbers Hill

Texas City secured the No. 2 seed from its district with a 35-7 home victory over Barbers Hill on Friday night at Stingaree Stadium.

Texas City (9-1, 6-1) has its highest win total since 2013 and will take on Houston Sterling (6-4, 6-2) in the Class 5A Division II bidistrict playoffs next week.

Donovan Avery had three intercepti­ons on defense and a touchdown catch on offense for the Stingarees, who have won three straight games entering the postseason.

The Barbers Hill loss, paired with a Port Neches-Groves win, means the Eagles (5-5, 4-3) will face No. 2 state-ranked Marshall (10-0, 8-0) in the bi-district playoffs next week.

Huffman-Hargrave punches playoff ticket

Things were looking good for Huffman-Hargrave early in the season with a 5-0 record.

But then, adversity struck. Two losses to start District 10-4A Division I play left the Falcons with three must-win games on their schedule.

Hargrave (8-2, 3-2) responded and won all three, including a 19-12 road victory over Livingston on Friday, to clinch its fifth consecutiv­e playoff berth.

Spring finishes district play strong

No. 9 state-ranked Spring rolled past MacArthur 65-13 for its fifth consecutiv­e victory Friday evening at Planet Ford Stadium.

The Lions (9-1, 5-1) have their highest win total since 2016 and will take on District 13-6A champion The Woodlands (8-2, 5-0) in the 6A Division I bi-district playoffs next week.

Jersey Village makes program history

Jersey Village has not had an undefeated regular season since 1991.

That all changed Friday evening when the Falcons defeated Cypress Creek 63-21 and secured the outright District 17-6A championsh­ip.

Jersey Village (10-0, 7-0) also reached double-digit wins for the fifth time in program history. The team will face Westside in the 6A Division I bi-district playoffs next Friday.

Bellville completes perfect season

Bellville secured its first unblemishe­d regular season since 2003 with a 56-10 victory over Sweeny in District 12-4A Division II action Friday night.

The No. 6 state-ranked Brahmas (10-0, 5-0) also wrapped up the outright district title with the triumph and will be making their 11th straight playoff appearance next week.

Fort Bend Christian tops Second Baptist

Second Baptist had won eight consecutiv­e district titles before Fort Bend Christian defeated the Eagles 27-24 in TAPPS Division II District 4 action.

Brady Dever connected on three touchdown passes, and James Donovan collected the game-sealing intercepti­on with just under a minute remaining. The game was tied at 24 before Emanuel Montoya hit the goahead field goal with 2:34 to play.

Fort Bend Christian (7-3, 5-0) and Second Baptist (8-2, 4-1) are both playoff-bound.

Thursday notes

• No. 6 state-ranked Westfield capped the seventh undefeated regular season in program history with a 63-14 victory over Eisenhower on Thursday at Thorne Stadium. Cardell Williams passed for 259 yards and five touchdowns to help the Mustangs (10-0, 7-0) secure the outright District 14-6A title. Westfield will face Conroe in the 6A Division I bi-district playoffs Thursday.

• After suffering its first loss of the season against Manvel last week, No. 9 state-ranked Paetow bounced back with a 55-13 victory over Angleton on Thursday at Legacy Stadium. The win secured a share of the District 10-5A Division I title, the first league crown in school history. Damryion Phillips rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Panthers (9-1, 7-1).

• Klein Oak looks ready for the playoffs after capping the regular season with a 63-35 victory over Tomball Memorial on Thursday at Klein Memorial Stadium. P.J. Hatter led the charge for the Panthers (5-5, 4-2) with seven total touchdowns. He passed for 238 yards and three scores and rushed for 133 and four more touchdowns. Kaleb Black finished with four catches for 192 yards and two scores. Klein Oak will take on Cypress Ranch next Friday in the 6A Division I playoffs.

• Heights is set for the postseason after handling Sam Houston 61-0 in District 18-6A action Thursday at Delmar Stadium. The Bulldogs (4-6, 4-2) limited the Tigers to just 105 total yards and got a 77-yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown from Delvinaire Williams. Heights will take on either Memorial or Cypress Creek in the 6A Division II playoffs next week.

• Clear Falls won its fifth consecutiv­e game to close out the regular season, beating Brazoswood 44-0 in District 24-6A action Thursday at Challenger Columbia Stadium. David Smith rushed for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Knights (9-1, 5-1), who have the highest win total in program history. Luke Vidal had three catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

• No. 2 state-ranked Marshall wrapped up the fifth undefeated regular season in school history with a 56-0 victory over Madison on Thursday at Hall Stadium. . The Buffaloes (10-0, 8-0) have won 24 consecutiv­e district games dating back to 2019 and will host the No. 4 seed out of District 12-5A next week in the Division II bi-district playoffs.
